“Tweak the Treat 2010”

The joy of seeing a vision become a reality is truly a wonderful feeling. Last year, I created an event called “Tweak the Treat”. My desire was to “tweak” the Halloween holiday by getting the kids and community involved in a Wellness celebration. This would include body, mind & spirit:

Moderation… remove the excessive Halloween candy out of the house.

Giving…share the treats and write notes showing our appreciation to our US troops serving overseas.

Get Active… participants receive a variety of fun activities cards to choose from.

Wellness Inspiration … provide and create fun environment for everyone.

The first year was a great success with a big turnout and almost 500 lbs of candy was collected and sent over to our troops in Afghanistan;

This year, utilizing only word of mouth and social media, the second Annual Tweak the Treat was put in motion. The holiday landed on a Sunday, so drop off locations were set up for the six days prior to the actual event. A volunteer helped by getting an Elementary school involved and brought in over 220 lbs of candy!

Take a few minutes and view the 2010 YouTube video created by Bethany Spilde, Social Buzz Media.

Priceless! Also, check out and “LIKE” the facebook fan page listed below and share with others so more people can get on board with us next year and beyond! Together we can do small things with great results.

Drum roll please:  almost 1000 lbs of candy was donated and sent over to 16 different military locations overseas!

We were blessed with generous sponsors (see video on the facebook fanpage).

They contributed in a variety of ways: financially, activity cards, their time and talent.

Everything starts with an idea followed by action. Everything ~ Be Well & TCOY!
