This month my topic is “thoughts – what you think about, you get”. With over 60,000 thoughts going through our mind every day (I didn’t count them folks but that’s what they tell me), stop the negative chatter and focus on what you want!

Change, real change, comes from internal desires vs. external influence. Think about a time in your life when someone TOLD you to do something you really didn’t want to do. Did you fight them on it? Did you complete it or give it a halfway attempt? Now, think of something YOU wanted to accomplish. Perhaps, completing a project, competing in an event, changing jobs, starting a relationship or perhaps breaking off a relationship – when it’s from within, your desire is the fire to see it happen. The present situation is no longer acceptable.

Unfortunately, our society is driven by negativity (just watch the evening news and you will see how we are lured in by ‘Top Stories’ – focusing on the negative and bad). My advice, stop watching the evening news and for that matter, reduce TV time altogether. Start surrounding yourself with positive things, positive music, being active and embracing the blessings and wonders that are all around us. You’ll see a difference in your home environment. Our children need you to do this too!

Practice “Random Acts of Kindness”…smile at people and watch what happens…they smile back! Simplify your life and let laughter happen. Young children and dogs can teach us so much – they live in the moment and don’t let thoughts weigh them down. We all want to be loved and acknowledged, so step out and try it.

One of my favorite books, based on a true story, is “The Way of the Peaceful Warrior” by Dan Millman. Within the last couple years, the movie version was released. I would encourage and recommend the movie. It targets the power of your thoughts and how to live in the moment. It is very captivating and can change your life and perspective if you let it.

Imagine what your life would be like if you had abundance in all areas including good health. What would that mean to you? Are you settling because your thoughts tell you “you can’t” or “you need to settle for less”. My question to you is WHY? And WHO says so? You are the master of your destiny!

Start by training yourself to shut-off the negative chatter. Believe in your dreams, read inspirational stories and surround yourself with doers not life-suckers! It is challenging as you are breaking your comfort zone and habits. The question you have to ask yourself: am I truly happy and content with where my life is today or do I want more. If you aren’t growing, you’re dying.

As a Wellness Coach and Speaker, I encourage you to live your life with an appreciation for each day as if it could be your last but the understanding that there could be many decades ahead. Keep a gratitude journal and take care of your body mentally, physically and fuel it well. Together, we can improve your life!
